Common questions
How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house in Canada?
Student Works' 2026 guide puts a full interior repaint of a 1,500 sq ft home — walls, ceilings, baseboards and trim in mid-grade paint — at roughly $5,000–$7,500 CAD, with most projects landing near $6,250 before tax. Smaller walls-only jobs fall lower; large or premium projects run higher. Use the calculator above for a range matched to your wall area, prep level, and paint grade.
Does the estimate include ceilings and trim?
Yes — toggle 'Include ceilings' and 'Include trim & doors' to add or remove those surfaces. Ceilings are estimated at roughly 35% of your paintable wall area, and trim at 15%. Prices shown are before GST/PST/HST, which is added per-province at billing.
How does paint grade affect cost?
Budget-grade paint lowers the estimate by about 15%; premium paint raises it by about 35%. Mid-grade latex is the baseline. Higher-grade paints often cover better in fewer coats and last longer, reducing how often you repaint.
